1. They're legitimately race blind
2. None of the kids are unattractive, like they're not all beautiful people, but none of them are ugly as far as I can see
3. They pretty much fit the stereotype in the sense that they drink, play drinking games, and dance at parties (I'm definitely not complaining).
Also, the Germans here are really used to exchange students, so they're pretty nice but they'll reach out to you as much as you reach out to them, so when you're awkward little me, you don't make friends here.
Except this one kid, Jama. So, I come to the party with three other Americans and there's this one kid just kinda standing off to the side who immediately comes and greets us. Like, first person to actually come up to us and introduce himself. On top of that, he actually talked to us (kinda, he mostly spoke German). On top of that, he obviously drank like the other Germans (though his parents are actually from Afghanistan) but didn't really join in on the dancing or anything even when the Americans went down. He seemed a little awkward and kinda quiet too (later found out that's not true at all) but really nice. Idk, I normally use the word interesting when I don't know what else to say but interesting is actually the best word to describe Jama. I was definitely thinking, if I had been able to host a German this guy is someone I would've loved to host. That being said, I actually don't know him really lolol.
So, in Köln, who you hang out with depends on your partner's friends' partners, so I've been hanging out with these guys a lot. Left to right: Muhammad (still don't know his last name), Gabby Webb (she thinks she's not photogenic), Sidd Rebba, Medha Chidambaram, Conan Huang, and me!! (We're kinda squinty cause flash hurts...)
