Warning: Boring Post. Unless you are very interested in how German classes are, this isn't very interesting.
So, on Wednesday I got to follow Narin around to her classes, but now I have my own schedule (all 11th grade classes though). Also, this is the only picture I got in school because they're kind of super against technology...
Periods 1&2 - Physics: physics is just as boring as it is back home. Teacher is definitely a smart guy (came in wearing a t shirt and jeans - so relaxed!) but they were discussing like transverse and longitudinal waves. So, definitely not what I was expecting and incredibly basic and boring. It was literally like, teacher teaches, you do some problems, you check them. Not the most interesting class but the entire thing was in German so that made it a little tough.
Periods 3&4 - English: so, my English class had an exam so I went to Herr Bastians. And he just plays movies and tells life stories. The movie was about how dumb American gun policy is. In between he told random stories about his time in America that was completely unrelated... Of course, then he'd always ask me random questions about America.
Period 5 - Freistunde: So my free periods are coordinated with Narin's so we went to this grocery store to buy drinks (non alcoholic) and a snack. It was pretty fun, especially seeing how close everything was.
Period 6 - Homeroom: so, literally this is just a class period for all the Americans and Herr Buck to have so we can discuss what we did, talk about what we need to do, etc.
Period 7 - Deutsch: ok, so I have this teacher who is scary as all fuck. Like actually though, she spent half of one of her other classes insulting the kids' German. In my class, she got mad at me for pulling out a camera and then she proceeded to do some weird ass excercise about the development of language from birth to four years old. Like wtf.
Overall: really disappointed in and not really impressed with the German school system. Idk I was just expecting more I guess. Like it was a lot of fun. But very underwhelming. :/
